Market Exploring

I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted! Doesn't time fly! I don't even know where the time has gone but I have just been frantically trying to get my portfolio ready for applying to uni and starting to get ready for the approaching Christmas season. Hopefully I will get the time to put up some holiday posts soon ready for the festive season.

However, today I thought I would make a post about something I often mention: markets. Like the new highly-covered hobby of 'thrifting', marketing is similar in the way you are able to find unique one-ff pieces no one else owns. I love going to markets and picking up vintage or handmade pieces to mix with pieces from high street shops to make a completely unique outfit. The best thing is, there are markets almost everywhere, that sell anything and everything you could think of.

This market I visited on my trip to Prague mainly sold local produce such as flowers and groceries as well as handmade goods from around Eastern Europe.

I ended up buying a cup and saucer from this stall. It's always important to come with an open mind, so I think I might even grow a plant in it as a decoration piece.

Wrapping Up

Now that Scotland has had its first snow, its is official that Winter is on it's way! Before its time to wrap up the presents for under the tree, it is time to wrap up warm, so we are not freezing in the cold climate. One of the best things about cold weather, is layering. I am a big fan of warm, furry jackets and woolly hats, and I paired my new Nasty Gal jacket with a leather skirt and scale print top. I always feel when fall comes around my style steers away from your typical girly girl style, and I feel this outfit still contains my girly style but with an edgy twist.

Prague Travel Diary

So I am finally home from my trip to Prague... I had a great time expierencing the city and all its sites so I thought I would do a quick overview post of my trip.

The buildings in Prague were beautiful, and reminded me of the buildings in Paris.

There were chandelier shops all over the city.

Bubble Remix

Recently I have been very inspired by bubbles through my artwork. I just love how no bubble is ever just plain and round, but different sizes and full of colour. Regardless that fall is often a season of muted down reds and greens, I have been digging out some of my bolder and brighter pieces, in particular primary colours  What do you think, is bold bright colours ever fall appropriate?

Teen Vogue Feature

I was so happy yesterday when I arrived back home from school to find I had been featured as Teen Vogue's Reader Look of the Day, that I just wanted to make a quick post with a link to the article. I have been a big reader of both Vogue and Teen Vogue for many years now as I am sure many of you know, so to be featured on their website's front page was such an amazing feeling!

I would also just like to take this moment to say a quick thank you everyone who follows, reads and comments on all my posts. It honestly means the world when I receive such lovely comments on my posts and makes the hard work worth while. I know I have not been terribly consistent with my posts recently but I am hoping to get back in the swing of things soon, so if you have any post suggestions or questions I would love to hear about them in the comments!

An Artistic Evening

Yesterday evening we had lovely weather in Scotland, (something very rare for Scottish Augusts), so I thought I would sit outside, work in to one of my latest sketches and make a blog post! I love this blazer, as I feel it's bright, abstract floral print is a great piece for the end of summer and in my opinion is even on trend to some of the fall pieces designers such as Dolce and Gabanna have released! Paired with a bright necklace and some jewelled-toned heels and its perfect for late summer, either day or night.

Seeking Florence

Well I am now officially home! I can't believe it's back to life without nearly enough sun, ice cream and living among those amazing Tuscan views, but it has definitely been good seeing friends again after the three weeks!
I was unable to have much access to the Internet whilst staying in our small, picturesque country farm, but I thought I would still do a Italy roundup and show you some of the amazing sites I saw around Florence.

There were so many beautiful, scenic gardens around Florence

The Duomo in Florence is one of it's most famous buildings, if not one of the most recognised buildings in the world!

View from the Doumo, it has an amazing tower which you can see all around Florence from once at the top.

Walking Through The Alleys Of Venice

Venice almost doesn't seem real walking through all the small streets and alley ways, but more like from a movie set. I don't think I have ever been to a place where there were so many beautiful buildings in such a small area and I can truly see now why it is such a popular destination! The temperature is boiling here, (even though Venice is surrounded by water), which is great as it means I can finally pull out my shorts and T-shirts!
Today I just chose a casual outfit, including these Zara crochet shorts that I have been longing to wear in a post for ages! I paired it with this blue and white stripped top- a pattern seen in most places along Venice's canals, as worn by many gondolier drivers.

On The Way To Italy!

I have just arrived in Italy, where I am going to be spending the next couple of weeks holidaying around. I am starting my journey in Venice, and although I have only spent a couple of hours here, I can already tell I am going to love it. The boat journey to the island I am staying on was beautiful, and after a stressful day of a flight at 4:00 in the morning, only to miss our connecting flight, I felt it had paid off! Looking forward to lots of ice-creams, pizzas and sunshine! The temperature here is 35 degrees today which is boiling in comparison to the UK!
We are travelling to Florence later on in the week, and I am not too sure on how WiFi situation in the places we are staying, but I shall try to post as often as possible!

The view from the plane flying over the French Alps was amazing!

Due to missing the connecting flight, I had time in Paris airport to pick up a French Vogue

Fields of Flowers

For today's outfit I thought I would be a little more inventive... I actually made the skirt I am wearing out of an old scarf I had! I think it is great to find fashionable pieces that are multi-functional and I think this is a great idea if you are wanting a cover-up at the beach or by the pool this summer. Of course you will need a rather large scarf (preferably a square scarf which has dimensions slightly larger than the sides of your waste!) Also if it is slightly more transparent you will need to be able to fold it in half, which this scarf from Accessorize is perfect for! You can either tie the skirt around your waste or what I did was tie a belt around my waste to be doubly sure that it wouldn't fall off.

Friday Favourites - Enjoying the Sun

It has been amazing weather in the UK this week, and although I have sadly been stuck inside for a lot of it I have been grabbing every opportunity to get out! Thought I would share some of my favourite photographs I have taken this week!

Made this paper cut-out of the word-sun for an inspirational photograph and loved how the photograph turned out!

Have been loving painting my toes now my feet don't have to be covered in socks or tights all the time!

And for my fingers... Essie is my favourite nail polish brand and as you can see I am having a bit of an obsession with pinks and reds!

To Trend? Or Not To Trend?

So stacking rings has been a big trend for over a year now and I have without doubt been a big follower of that. Recently I thought I would try something new and so bought these Asos Plain Band Rings, (rings on the left), after seeing them on the Made In Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue.
On the one hand I love how they are a definite statement piece yet very simple and obviously will go with absolutely anything. However whenever I wear them I can't help thinking I have knuckle dusters on my fingers because of the sheer amount of plain metal on such a small area of my body.

Tell me what you think of these rings below... Would you follow/ do you follow this trend?

Prints and Flowers

I may not have been able to attend Cochella this year, (which is acceptable due to the vast distance between California and UK,) but nevertheless I decided to switch the desert for the garden and bring some of that Cali style to the colder climates. I am absolutely in love with bright colours and more 'boho,' styled jewelry pieces, and I think this outfit meets both of these measures. The pairings of this snake print top and high wasted light wash denim shorts with a variety of stacked rings and of course statement earrings, really shows a combination of the festival meets urban girl look I was going for, and in my eyes looks fit for the desert!
